My office was honored to attend several National Night Out events across Senate District 38.
National Night Out is an annual campaign that enhances the relationship between the community and law enforcement. Our law enforcement officers are our heroes, and far too often we overlook the many sacrifices they make to keep us safe. Importantly, these events throughout the county provide fantastic opportunities to bring law enforcement and neighbors together with positive activities such as food, games, music, public safety displays, and much more. The San Diego Police and San Diego County Sheriff partner with several local organizations to create safe and engaging community events. My staff and I were honored to present Senate Certificates of Recognition to community volunteers and law enforcement officials in Alpine, Santee, Lakeside, Fallbrook and North County for all the work they do to make our communities safer. National Night Out events have been hosted by law enforcement agencies across the nation for about four decades.
Every year, this event serves as a reminder about the importance of fostering strong relationships with those that keep our community safe. As a State Senator, I often work with law enforcement groups on a variety of issues from legislation to constituent services. I am looking forward to another great year of building strong partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie between law enforcement and San Diegans!
