Senator Catherine Blakespear
Senator Brian Jones

I’m taking bold and bipartisan action to help get people off the streets and connected with services and I need your help!

I’m partnering with Democrat Senator Catherine Blakespear from Encinitas on a bipartisan measure to compassionately clear encampments.

We are facing an uphill battle to get this bill passed in Sacramento. This is where I need your help. Our bill is going to be heard in the Senate Public Safety Committee NEXT WEEK. Please sign the petition to tell Sacramento to clean up our streets!

Our bipartisan Senate Bill 1011 will compassionately clear homeless encampments near schools, transit stops, and open spaces across the state. The measure also prohibits encampments on sidewalks if shelter space is available.

Our bill strikes the appropriate balance between compassion and accountability by requiring a 72-hour notice before an encampment is cleared, and by requiring enforcement personnel to tell impacted homeless individuals about shelters and services in the area.

You can watch our announcement of the bill here and read more about it in ABC News.

Californians should not have to tolerate the encampments that now fill our open spaces with trash, needles, and human waste. Our bipartisan SB 1011 will help compassionately clear encampments, clean up California, and protect public safety and health. You can join the effort to clean up California and support our bill by signing the petition here.
It is an honor to serve as your State Senator.

Sincerely,
Senate Minority Leader Brian W. Jones
California’s 40th Senate District
