Davis Willauer –Contributing Writer-Fallbrook High School-Fallbrook, CA-5-23-23: The Fallbrook Warriors at 20-9-1 known for key wins in the CIF Baseball Playoffs, after a 4-2 defeat vs. El Camino, came back with key wins in the lower losers bracket over Oceanside 7-2 and El Camino 12-4.
The next opponent were the Vista Panthers at 18-13, during the regular season the Warriors played a 3 game series as they were defeated 11-5, but won the last 2 games by scores of 4-1 and 2-1 respectively.
In the Division III Lower Bracket elimination battle as thsee teams were scoreless after 6 innings. In the home 7th with 2 on and 2 outs Anthony Thomas hit a 3 run home run scoring Will Sherman, Evan Thomas to make the final score as Fallbrook won by a 3-0 score.
Tanyon Smith gets the win for the Warriors as he pitched 7 innings gave up 6 hits and struck out 7 Vista batters.
Anthony Thomas on his home run for Fallbrook: “We played a good Vista team I give credit to pitcher Tanyon Smith as he pitched a great game.” I was in a tough spot which all my teammates asked was to hit the home run pitch, the pitch that I hit was a fast curveball which I knew that hit right inside the right field foul pole.” “During the regular season we played them 3 times and won the series 2 games to 1, but the CIF Tournament it’s win or go home.”
“Vista has a good ballclub they are scrappy with good hitters We will be ready for them with a lot of momentum in the game.” said Anthony Thomas.
These 2 teams will play in an elimination game on Thursday May 25 at Fallbrook first pitch is 3:30 with the winner advancing to the CIF Division III Championship that will be played at University of California at San Diego on Saturday, May 27 at 7 PM
