Summergrass 2020 was canceled due to Covid. There’s good news though: Summergrass leadership is planning to bring back the annual event this August 20-22, 2021.
Headlining the entertainment will be: The Lonesome River Band, Bluegrass Etc., High Fidelity, Special Consensus, and the Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, with local favorites, Drought Tolerant, Bluegrass Brethren, Virtual Strangers, Chris Cerna and Bluegrass Republic, the Clinton Davis String Band, and Hot October.
The Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum, 2040 N. Santa Fe, Vista Ca., our long-time venue, is open and starting to host events, and expects to provide at least limited food service for Summergrass guests.
Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available. Check the Summergrass website below to learn more.

The Ever Popular Instrument Raffle
2021 marks the return of Summergrass San Diego and with it the return of the ever popular instrument raffle. This year we are proud to announce the gracious donations of a Deering Banjo, an Eastman Mandolin, a Martin Guitar, a Palomar Ukulele, and a collection of posters.
Summergrass as been blessed with a number of very generous people who have donated their time and resources to help make the festival a success. This year is no exception. An anonymous individual has donated a Martin D-28 guitar to the Summergrass raffle. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. Summergrass proudly offers this beautiful Martin D-28—the choice of the bluegrass professional.
Deering Goodtime Package Local banjo maker, Deering Banjos, has donated a Goodtime Banjo package, which includes a Deering Goodtime banjo and a gig bag. Deering has supported the festival since day one, 2003.
Eastman Mandolin – This year the Eastman Guitar Company has donated an HM315 Mandolin. It has a maple neck, ebony fingerboard, solid spruce top and solid maple back and sides with ivoroid binding. It produces that great bluegrass chop.
This wonderful Palomar Banjo Ukulele was built at Palomar College in the wood working department, in the production wood working class where many of the computer operated tools as possible were used, kinda like they would be building in a modern factory. This one was done by a really talented student, which has a beautiful carved heal.
Another raffle prize that was donated to Summergrass is a framed “Summergrass 2019” poster that was used on the TV show “NCIS New Orleans.” If you are a fan of NCIS New Orleans and happened to catch Season 7, Episode 12, which first aired Feb. 14, 2021 and titled “Leda & the Swan”, in the first 5 minutes the poster was in the middle of the scene. Very prominent, and looked pretty good! Summergrass history right there on national TV!
Also, a collection of Hatch style posters of bands from days gone by! A great collection for an bluegrass fan.
