Workforce Housing

I believe it’s extremely important that we keep our young, working families in our region. On Thursday, I was on hand at the groundbreaking of Villa Serena -National Core’s workforce housing project in San Marcos.

This will be 148 affordable housing units, with eight units set aside for young adults aging out of the foster care system. As the former mayor of the wonderful city of San Marcos, I am proud to see the city and the county coming together to make strides in addressing our housing crisis while staying true to the character of our communities. Great work to San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones and the City Council for their support of this project.

Sandy Puccio Bridge

A month ago, I received a request from the Valley Center Community Planning Group that a bridge in Valley Center be named to honor the memory of a beloved local librarian Sandy Puccio. She was an adored figure in the community, and I’m pleased to fulfill the request of the community and name the bridge on Lake Wohlford Road in Valley Center after Sandy.

Warner Springs Sponsor Group

County planning is more responsive to local needs if there is a high level of local participation in the planning process. The community of Warner Springs has requested that they be represented by an advisory group.  On Wednesday, I initiated the creation of the Warner Springs Sponsor Group, and it was unanimously approved by the Board of Supervisors.

Guajome Regional Park

Exciting news! On Wednesday, the Board of Supervisors approved a new cabin at Guajome County Park. This action will award the construction of an ADA-accessible cabin at the Guajome County Park. These cabins offer a great getaway for all residents to enjoy the outdoors.

North County Veterans Stand Down

The 5th Annual North County Veterans Stand Down (NCVSD) is being held September 16 – 19 at Green Oak Ranch (1237 Green Oak Rd, Vista, CA 92081). NCVSD is a four-day event in Vista, CA that allows Veterans in need to receive services in a safe, secure, and friendly environment.

While NCVSD was started to assist Veterans dealing with homelessness, NCVSD is for all Veterans regardless of housing, employment, and financial status. For more information, please visit the website:https://www.ncstanddown.org/ or email your questions to info@ncvsd.org.
