Hispanic Heritage Month
On Friday, I attended a “Salute to Hispanic Heritage” in Escondido! It was my honor to recognize some of the distinguished Hispanic community leaders in San Diego County!

Brad Humphrey Day
Brad Humphrey was a committed husband, father, son, brother and friend who loved his community and the great outdoors. Brad believed in the healing thoroughly loved being active outdoors where he enjoyed nature.
Power of the human connection and being active outdoors enjoying nature.
On October 16th, 2018 Brad succumbed to a rare disease known as Richter’s Syndrome. He left a legacy of living life to the fullest, and using nature to heal life’s hardships, 2B-RAD was created, a non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status. Inspired by the spirit and energy of Brad Humphrey, 2B-RAD partners with like-minded organizations who believe in community and the healing power of being active in nature.
Last week, my office presented Brad’s family with a proclamation declaring it “Brad Humphrey Day” in San Diego County. Just as Brad would have done, they took the proclamation on a hike!

Carlsbad Magazine
I appreciate Carlsbad Local Leaders magazine for spotlighting the County of San Diego and the issues that I believe are most pressing.

COVID-19 Will Soon Be An Endemic?
Today, we sat down with Dr. Monica Gandhi, infectious diseases and HIV doctor at UCSF. We spoke to Dr. Gandhi about her thoughts on COVID-19 transitioning from a pandemic to an endemic. It was a fascinating talk and I encourage you to listen to our conversation and read Dr. Gandhi’s op-ed.
