Veterans Day
Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to meet and present Renie Gloyer with a plaque as a “Gold Star Mom.” Tragically, Renie’s son, Ryan was killed in Afghanistan in November 2016. On Veteran’s Day, Renie, her son Ryan, and all those who have served, and their families were in my mind.
I was able to participate in several Veteran’s Day events in North County!

A Busy Weekend!
It was a busy, but fun weekend! On Friday, I attended the Live Planters Association dinner, where I learned the difference between horticulture and agriculture! Horticulture is the art or practice of garden cultivation and management and agriculture is the science or practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products.
On Saturday, I celebrated the Fallbrook Food Pantry’s 30 Anniversary. I presented them with a proclamation for all of their great work in North County!

Oceanside Theater Company
I was honored to come out for a curtain call at the Oceanside Theatre Company’s Brooks Theater for their Shrek performance. Recently, the County of San Diego presented the theater with a $75,000 grant which will serve as a lead gift for the renovation of the historic Sunshine Brooks Theater to make it a state-of-the-art, performing and visual art venue for all of North County
It’s wonderful that our theaters are back open and if you have a free night, go check out their latest performance!

Thank You, Herman
It was my absolute pleasure to honor Herman Reddick at our last Board of Supervisors meeting. It was through Herman’s leadership and vision that San Diego County established the San Diego County Fire Protection District. After 30 years of service as the Director of County Fire, Herman is now retiring, but his work will last for generations to come! Thank you for all your incredible work, Herman! |
