Yesterday, I had a fascinating conversation with Dr. Jennifer Tuteur, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, for the County of San Diego about monoclonal treatment. This life-saving treatment is vital in our fight against COVID and is now eligible for some San Diegans.
The one-time treatment typically has people feeling better within 24 hours and studies have shown a reduction of hospitalizations and deaths by 85%! The key is to catch it early. So, if you start to develop symptoms, go get tested. If you test positive, call your healthcare provider, or the Monoclonal Regional Antibody Center phone number, (619) 685-2500. A nurse will walk you through a series of questions to see if you’re eligible for treatment, free of charge.
I’m still encouraging everyone to get vaccinated as it’s the best way to prevent the virus, and if you test positive this is a wonderful treatment. Check out the video below to learn more, or subscribe to our podcast.
Constitution Week
Yesterday, my office presented a proclamation to the Daughters of the American Revolution- Rancho Buena Vista Chapter. Regent Amanda Rigby accepted the award. This is in honor of Constitution Week. Check out their wonderful displays in the Vista and San Marcos libraries! |

Native American Day
Tomorrow is Native American Day throughout the country. I wanted to take a moment to recognize San Diego’s 19 Tribal Governments in our region. It’s a new day at the County and it is time we recognize our Tribal Governments as equals and the good neighbors that they are.
Check out our link below about what we are doing to work with our tribes.

MiraCosta Technology Center
Yesterday, my staff took a tour of MiraCosta College’s Technology Career Institute with Linda Kurokawa, Kristen Huyck, Lindsey Oberoi. These programs are specifically designed for technology careers within our region. We are grateful to have such a wonderful program in North County!

Oceanside Turkey Trot
Happy Fall! 🍂
It’s not too early to start thinking about those Thanksgiving plans and what a way to get the day started by participating in the 16th Annual Oceanside Turkey Trot! Kathy Kinane, who runs the Turkey Trot in Oceanside, stopped by our office this week and let Candyce and I model some of the swag every participant will receive! Don’t worry you won’t get my sweaty shirt.
