On September 29. 2015, at about 2135 hours, Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a train vs. pedestrian collision in the area of milepost marker 227.9, just north of the Cassidy St. grade crossing, in the City of Oceanside.

According to witnesses, southbound Amtrak Train #790 struck a female pedestrian who was seen lying across the tracks at that location. Witnesses said the female did not respond to the train’s horn warnings prior to being struck by the train.

The Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit will be handling the investigation. Anyone with information about this case can call the Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line at (858)565-5200.
