Former Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants, current Rancho Buena Vista Coach Jesse English on his teams performance:  “I felt that River Scott  pitched 5 good innings, our defense made errors which scored some runs for Mar Vista early in the innings, we didn’t swing the bats well today.”
“For us to advance in the losing round we have to start swinging along with hitting the baseball for us to score more runs.”   “When Mar Vista lead 2-1 Trevor Rector recorded 2 RBI’s and swung the bats well for them it was a  back and fourth game all the way. “In the CIF playoffs to win games having confidence at the plate is needed.  When we tied the game at 2-2 we did OK hitting but needed to work on hit and run situations. said Coach English.

” Mar Vista scored the go ahead run on a controversial call at first base. I questioned the call between the first baseman’s feet it was very close. “Umpires are human beings and to win at CIF we have to play our best ball right now.” said Coach English.
River Scott was the losing pitcher for the Longhorns at 17-12 pitched 6.1 innings gave up 5 hits 2 runs 2 earned and 7 strikeouts will host the 5th seed Vikings of LaJolla on Friday starting at 3:30 pm.
