Two Act Play with Music Based on a True Story Coming to Vista Broadway Theatre
Vista’s Broadway Theatre has never shied away from presenting a wide variety of plays and musicals that cover a range of topics and issues and “Meet the Medranos”, coming in June, falls into that category. “Meet the Medranos” is a one-woman play written by and starring Ricki Douglas in this Two Act play with music. The play will be directed by Ric Henry. As described by Ms. Douglas, “through spirited stories and songs, this is a ‘true story’ about a woman’s lifelong search for her biological father.”
Ms. Douglas feels the story her play tells will touch people who are adopted or have searched for their birth parents or children. She said this is a true story about her search for her father, his abandonment of his family and her finding him in a most unusual way, through the TV show “What’s My Line” and finding out she was the oldest of 14 siblings. The story takes place in the 1980’s and the music of the time will accompany the story. Ms. Douglas said the story she reveals to the audience will show secrets she has kept hidden for decades, but she also feels those that see the play and have been in the same circumstances she has grown up with will find healing in the play.
This courageous and entertaining play will run June 17th through 19th and June 24th through 26th at Vista Broadway. Tickets are $24.50 and can be purchased at www.broadwayvista.com or call 760-806-7905.
As Ms. Douglas summarized, audiences will enjoy “A play with songs featuring one woman with a dream, a Dad, a vision and a VHS.”
