NORMAN, Okla. – Dylan Healey and Dale Smith of the Cal State San Marcos men’s golf team have been named to the Division II PING All-West Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Monday. A total of 112 players across eight different regions earned all-region honors for 2016.
Healey and Smith become the first two Cougars in program history to be honored at the NCAA DII level by the GCAA. Nine different Cougars took home a total of 16 NAIA All-West Region awards from 2007 through 2015.
Healey, who was named All-West Region and a GCAA All-American in 2014-15, led the team with a 72.17 scoring average in eight tournaments in 2015-16. He finished in the top-10 in seven competitions and earned medalist honors at the InterWest Wildcat Classic.
Smith is the 10th Cougar player to earn All-West Region. He posted a 73.57 scoring average in five tournaments this season. He tied for medalist honors at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational before falling in a one-hole playoff. Smith recorded two top-10’s and four top-20’s.
