11-year-old struck by vehicle while crossing street.

On Friday September 2, just before 6:00 PM, the Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received a call of a collision involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian at the intersection of N. Santa Fe Avenue and Vista Village Drive in the city of Vista.

Deputies from the Vista Station responded and located an eleven-year-old male who had been struck by a vehicle.  The boy had been attempting to cross the street against traffic when he was struck by the oncoming vehicle.  The boy was transported by air ambulance to Rady’s Children’s Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.  Alcohol and/or drug intoxication is not believed to be a factor in the collision.  The Vista Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
