CLUB NEWS

Message from CEO

It finally feels like summer! It’s been absolutely amazing seeing so many returning Club members this summer as well as many new Club members enjoying the Boys & Girls Club experience. It’s been a summer filled with non-stop activity, making new friends, bonding with adult mentors, and engaging in STEM, career exploration, sports and engaging physical activities. I’m sure quite a few parents have seen their kids fall immediately to sleep on the car ride home after a full day of Club.

One meaningful highlight for me is seeing our middle school and high school aged Club members in action taking on leadership roles. They’ve been touring local businesses, universities and exploring San Diego outdoors to truly experience an active and engaged summer. Our teens helped us put on our Career Expo and started their own summer business selling snacks to Club members through the Keystone Club. Teens have specific job titles and duties and are diligently working towards an end of summer field trip to an amusement park.

We are excited to partner with Vista Unified in the 2023-24 school year offering as part of a free comprehensive AM/PM program. We will also be offering free recreational sports activities during lunches at Rancho Minerva, Vista Magnet, Madison, Roosevelt and VIDA. Registration is under way through Vista Unified. We also intend to also meet the needs of any families that are on a wait list.

Our after school program with transportation to our Main Site for some elementary schools schools is underway. Spaces are limited. Financial assistance is available to those that qualify- please register here.

Great Futures start here!

The Latest Summer Scoop

Summer camp is in full swing, offering a variety of enjoyable activities like field trips, daily STEM and art projects, and refreshing Water Fun Fridays. This week, some club members have the chance to participate in the Moonlight Youth Theater Camp and will put on a special performance at the Moonlight Stage on Friday, July 28th. Additionally, our Summer Music lessons, including Piano, Rock Voices, and Rock band, are in full swing, leading up to the end-of-summer music recital on August 9th. The kids are eagerly looking forward to showcasing the musical skills they’ve learned over the past few weeks.

Registration is now open for the After School Program! We will be providing transportation from elementary schools to the Club as well as accepting drop-in visits at our Main Site.

Keystoning is the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s most dynamic teen program. It affords teens an opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience. Teens conduct activities in four areas: academic success, career exploration, community service and teen outreach.
