Vista Elks Lodge

Hi Friends, What A Week!
Just one week ago, our Lodge had been closed for over 2-1/2 months, our kitchen was completely dismantled for remodeling, all of our food and beverage staff were on unemployment (and still are), it was our new Lodge Manager’s first day, and we were reopening in just 4 days.

On Thursday, June 4
Kitchen was remodeled and reassembled – Social Quarters finally opened at 2pm Biggest “Cook Your Own Steak” in recent memory
All our Lodge Officers were installed 22 new members were initiated

Our Friday night dinner crowd was also much bigger than expected.  Even without dancing, it was fun to get together.  All this with a volunteers staff and a brand new Lodge Manager!  All I can say is… Vista Elks Rocks!

We’re Open
This week, we’re closed on Monday and Tuesday, but we’ll be open for lunch and dinner Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, lunch on Saturday with a special event on Sunday.  More on that later.  These emails and the Vista Elks app will keep you up to date on what’s going on when, or you can call the office.

House Committee and Board of Directors Meetings
Join us at 4pm for “Cook Your Own Steak” and stay for the House Committee and Board of Directors Meeting.  Please note that the meetings begin at 6:30pm and will run consecutively.

Flag Day/Memorial Day Celebration
This coming Sunday, please make plans to join us at 1pm for our Flag Day Celebration.  This will be a moving tribute to our nation’s emblem presented by your very own Vista Elks and The Young Marines.

Veterans, please wear something that signifies your service.  We will be honoring the Veterans of wars from WW II forward, as well as all branches of the Armed Services.

Following the Flag Day Ceremony, we will be having our belated Memorial Day Celebration.  This will be held on our patio and feature wonderful BBQ Chicken and Sausage.  We invite you to hang around all afternoon.  If you do, we’ll have a “Cook Your Own Steak” at 4pm.

Come spend the afternoon at the Lodge.

What About Dancing?
We were originally hoping we could have dancing as early as the 3rd week of this month but that is not looking likely.  Please remember the dates and events on the newsletter are highly subject to change.  We will let you know through the app and emails when dancing and Karaoke will begin.

The members of Vista Elks should rightly be quite proud of how our Lodge has weathered this closure.  These have been difficult times for our community, state, and country, but we have not let the difficult times define us, instead they have refined us.  In many ways, we are stronger and better situated for the future than we were at the beginning of this year.

I strongly believe that the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the principles that guide us are needed in our communities more than ever.  We can and should be an island of healing and restoration in a sea of uncertainty, disillusionment, and hostility.  The virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity should be experienced by all in our midst.

As our Lodge Chaplain would pray, “Increase in us true benevolence, nourish us with all goodness, keep us faithful to our obligation, and lead us and all Elks beside the still waters of peace, for Thine is the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.”
