Dear Lodge Members,

This email is to update you regarding Officer vacancies we have had over the past few weeks.

Grand Lodge Statute 12.150 states that whenever an elective office shall become vacant, or no person is nominated for or elected to an elective office in accordance with the provisions of Grand Lodge Statute 3.080, or a member who has been elected dies, resigns, or is otherwise incapable of serving and who will not be available for installation following his election, the Exalted Ruler shall, not later than the second regular meeting thereafter, order an election to fill such office for the unexpired term thereof, or the full term, as the case may be.

The Exalted Ruler may, at any time he deems expedient or necessary, appoint any member in good standing of the Lodge to fill the vacancy so created until such office is filled by election as provided herein, such appointee to have full power and authority to do all acts necessary and required of that office to which he is appointed.

As Exalted Ruler of our Lodge, I appointed Norman “James” Leitholf (PER) as acting Esteemed Leading Knight, Deb Dyson as acting Esteemed Loyal Knight, Bill Hoffman as acting Esteemed Lecturing Knight, Kimie Maulhili as acting Esquire, and Pat Raetz as acting Lodge Secretary, until an election could be held.

Nominations were accepted at last week’s meeting with no names, other than those previously stated, being offered for the open positions.  A motion was made, seconded, and approved by the membership to accept the nominations in “acclimation.” Therefore, no voting needs to take place at a future meeting.

On Thursday evening, October 20, at our regularly scheduled Lodge Meeting, these members will be installed as regularly elected Officers of Vista Elks Lodge #1968.
