Vista Fire Department Responds to Fire In Palm Trees on Terracina Way

Vista Fire Department personnel responded to a fire in palm trees on Terracina Way at 1 AM on New Year’s Day.   Firefighters arrived on scene and found 5  – 40 foot palm trees on fire with fire extending to the Olympic Auto body shop at 119 Terracina Way.  Firefighters extinguished the palm tree fires as well as the fire at the business.  The cause is under investigation but witnesses state fire works were seen in the area shortly before the fire started.   Damage is estimated at $15,000.   Firefighters checked the business for fire damage and to make certain the fire did not spread throughout the structure.

Two minutes after the fire call, additional units were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian call on East Vista Way near Gopher Canyon.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a female in her 20s with serious injuries.   The patient was transported by air ambulance to a local trauma center.   The patients condition is unknown and the CHP is investigating the incident.

Additional assistance was provided by the San Marcos and Oceanside Fire Departments.
