

City Council Meets February 28 The City Council will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. The public is welcome to attend and participate. Topics of discussion include:
- Conduct a public hearing regarding the appeal and proposed approval of a site development plan for the N. Santa Fe Apartments project at 1304 N. Santa Fe Avenue.
- Conduct a public hearing regarding a proposal to amend the Vista Municipal Code to change the date and times of City Council workshops.
- The Council has several discussion items on the agenda: penalties for retailers for tobacco sales to minors; appointments of elected officials to the San Diego Association of Governments board; a resolution opposing certain transportation taxes and fees; a resolution to abolish the gas tax; the relationship between the City Council and City Manager; and City staffing update.
The Council will also proclaim Wednesday, March 1, 2023, as “Norm Halus Day” in the City of Vista in recognition of Mr. Halus’ long-time service as a commissioner on various City commissions.
City Council to Update Goals During Workshop Meeting The City Council will update their goals at a workshop on Tuesday, March 7 at 2 pm in Council Chambers at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. Every two years, the City Council conducts a goal-setting workshop to determine the City’s high-priority goals, which are then reflected in the City’s Operational and Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budgets. Every six months, staff provide an update on activities that align with City Council goals. The workshop is open to the public.

Vista Sheriff’s Coffee with the Community The Vista Sheriff’s Station is hosting another Coffee with the Community event on Thursday, March 2, 9 am-11 am, at Archer’s Arrow Coffee House, 170 Main Street, Vista. Coffee with the Community gives the public a chance to chat with the station’s command staff, deputies, crime prevention specialists, and senior volunteers in a casual setting and exchange ideas and concerns over a cup of coffee.
