On Thursday, November 10th the VVBA will hold it’s first quarterly Community Development Town Hall from 8:30-10am at the Village Cafe on Main St. The goal of these quarterly discussions will be to offer BID and community member’s insights into key city projects, new development, programs and activities influencing downtown Vista and help business succeed. We believe that sharing information and soliciting input from our members will allow the VVBA to better represent the interest of its constituents and work together to build a better Vista.
This first Town Hall discussion will cover two areas. First, the information prepared by our Economic Vitality Committee chaired by Lev Gershman, a local downtown business owner. Spurred by the interest and growing community concern around new developments, Lev’s committee set out to gather information by meeting with BID members, community members and senior city staff from Development and Planning. The team then completed it’s own research including the review of the city’s General Plan and Downtown Specific plan to understand the vision and plan for Downtown Vista. Lev will share his team’s findings covering the following topics and then open the meeting for Q&A and discussion.
- Macro drivers influencing land use (e.g. housing affordability, jobs, traffic, environment, legislation)
- Overview of the General Plan and Downtown Vista Specific Plan focusing on how the plans address the macro drivers
Second, Jeffrey Frankel the Executive Director of the VVBA will share insights from recent VVBA work, including programs and marketing efforts. One such effort is the recent Google Ad Grant of $10,000 to help build online marketing campaigns for local business and events. We will review trends, gather feedback and work together to build a healthy, vibrant and prosperous Vista!
