Thank you once again for your support of our VVBA Casino Night. we wanted to share a few new developments. Chairpersons Don Hein and Dave Lowen have recently announced the desire to wait for our Casino Night at the Movies until the current renovations of Cinepolis are complete. Major renovations are going on and the venue is in a “Pardon our dust” situation. While we share that we were extremely excited to have 7 different local businesses and agencies sponsoring/partnering with us for this first ever event, our excitement continues that sponsors have suggested they want to remain involved as we shift to our new date of February 26, 2017. Roddy of Flying Pig suggests, “I think the change is a great idea and it also gives time for more marketing and promotions to build this fabulous event”.
By hosting the event subsequent to the construction, VVBA is tying in with their mission for economic vitality by offering an added value to the theater in showcasing the changes within the walls of Cinepolis and building a stronger tie between local businesses. Cinepolis will finally transition to the true Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas brand, and our Casino Night at the Movies will help to share the entertainment center with the community. – Parking
We personally think this will be a win-win for all parties.
Thank you for your offer of support and for your hopeful continued involvement with what we know can be a great night of fun and community!
Downtown Parking Update
The City has notified us that the demolition project to take place at the Corner of Citrus/Broadway. Both buildings (the former King & Queen Hair Studio and the former Altura Paint store) will be demolished to make way for a future parking lot.
The contractor has begun mobilization as of the week of 10/10/16 and is constructing a perimeter fence. Barring any unforeseen delays, the contractor plans to begin work as early as 10/19/16; however, it may be the week of 10/24/16.
We expect sporadic truck traffic in the area. The hauling route for incoming trucks will be Civic Center Dr. to Eucalyptus to Citrus/Broadway. Outgoing hauling will be Citrus/Broadway to Vista Village.
The estimated duration to complete demolition and install a temporary surface will be 3 weeks. After the demotion we will have a surface on which cars can park which will serve as an interim surface through the Holidays until the City installs a permanent asphalt surface estimated to start in January 2017. It is planned that the paved Altura lot will mostly remain open through out the demolition and paving.
