Carolyn, is an extremely artistic, creative person. I am proud to brag about her and her latest artistic success, being selected to display her work at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe Gallery for the month of August. Throughout the 40 plus years I have been with her, I have seen her work in a variety of media from stained glass to crafts covering every season of the year. She would use her talent to make unique gifts for friends that ranged from diaper cakes and new baby bonnets to unusual birthday or holiday gifts. Her love of travel with her family would lead her to take up photography as well. Her mother, Maxine, was a talented, award winning watercolor and oil painting artist who loved painting scenes of the Old West. After Carolyn’s retirement, from 37 years as a Health Tech for the Carlsbad Unified School District, she expanded her creative interests to take up watercolor painting lessons. What she would discover is, it must be in the genes, as not only did she love watercolor painting, but she was very good at it. Some of her paintings are featured in the slide show.

Carolyn continues to take watercolor painting classes from a variety of teachers, as well as attending numerous watercolor exhibitions around San Diego County. She has won a number of awards (ribbons) in different shows. Her paintings have been chosen to hang in the Carlsbad Library Learning Center, the Art Gallery of the San Diego County Fair, the Vista Chamber of Commerce, retirement homes, in local Vista businesses and in numerous shows in the county. She is currently a member of the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League and her work appears in the monthly themed shows. One of her paintings was selected to be on the COAL bookmark that is handed out at the gallery.
Carolyn’s latest accomplishment is her selection to have her watercolor paintings and photography hang in an exhibition at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe Gallery. Her art work will be on display August 6 through August 29, Thursday through Saturdays, 10 am to 3 pm. There is no charge to visit the Adobe Gallery. Many of the paintings, photography and cards will be for sale.
