Caring & Sharing Food Drive Through Dec. 16, Oceanside Morning Farmers Market MainStreet Oceanside and Friends of Oceanside Dia de Los Muertos are holding a food drive to benefit Bread of Life Oceanside. Drop off nonperishable donations on the final day of the drive at the Oceanside Morning Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will unload items from your trunk at the northeast corner of North Coast Highway and Pier View Way. Cocktail Club: Bourbon Dec. 16, Communal Event Space Join the owner of Communal Coffee and Maker’s Mark at 7 p.m. for an evening filled with bourbon-based cocktails and food. You will learn how to mix up four different cocktails, and the Communal kitchen will be serving up charcuterie and its signature pizzettas. Held in Communal’s Event Space at 407 Minnesota St., this is the first in a series of cocktail workshops featuring different spirits and new mixing techniques. “A Christmas Carol: A Radio Play” Dinner & Show Dec. 17-18, Brooks Theater A Downtown Oceanside holiday tradition continues this weekend as Oceanside Theatre Company takes you to the studios of WOTC radio for Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale. On Friday and Saturday, enjoy a Dinner & Show at Piper Restaurant. This family-style dinner, with seatings at 5 and 5:30 p.m., includes fresh handmade pastas and garden-to-table delicacies just off the beach. Then take a short walk to the historic Brooks Theater for its 4th annual holiday show with live music and carolers. COVID-19 Nonprofit Grant Program Through Jan. 31, Oceanside As part of its ARPA spending plan, the Oceanside City Council approved $1 million for grants to local nonprofit organizations negatively impacted by COVID-19. To qualify, an applicant must be an Oceanside-based, tax-exempt, charitable organization in good standing. Grants will be awarded in two categories: $1,000 to $5,000 to offset revenue losses and $5,000 to $50,000 for specific programs to help address negative impacts in Oceanside caused by COVID-19.
