On Saturday the Oceanside Independence Parade returns to Downtown Oceanside! The 26th Annual Parade, presented by Genentech, A Member of the Roche Group, will have a new theme: “Oceanside Strong, Honoring Our Hometown Heroes.” The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at the intersection of South Coast Highway and Wisconsin Avenue. In all 127 parade entries are expected to march, roll, walk and drive down historic Highway 101. A local tradition since 1892, the parade is made possible by over 100 volunteers. |gO’side Free Downtown Shuttle Program Through Sept. 3, west end of the Pier View Way pedestrian underpass|
The new gO’side Downtown shuttle cruises the streets daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., providing riders with a free, fun, safe and efficient way to travel around Downtown Oceanside this summer season. Through this new electric vehicle shuttle pilot program, five-passenger electric shuttles can be hailed via the Ride Circuit smartphone app or by flagging down a shuttle in an area that is safe to stop for passenger boarding. The Oceanside service area covers from Oceanside Harbor south to Vista Way in the area west of Interstate 5, and runs through November.

Don’t miss the final three performances of “Songs for a New World.” Adapted from Teatro San Diego’s successful production streamed during the COVID-19 pandemic, this gorgeous song cycle by Jason Robert Brown, composer of “Parade” and “Bridges of Madison County,” presents a series of songs and performers representing different forms of social injustice. Oceanside Theatre Company is partnering with Piper Restaurant to offer a 5-course dinner with perfectly crafted pasta and a ticket for only $89.

Sunset Vibes Creations, Goldie’s Record Company, MadStrange, Fireside Organics and many more local businesses and brands will be popping up for the market.

Vibe into the summer with Mystic Soul Ritual Shop this Saturday following the Oceanside Independence Parade at the Summer Solstice Spiritual Faire. From noon-6 p.m. enjoy live music, tarot readings, henna, live art and 30-plus local vendors, makers and artists in Artist Alley Oceanside. Our Artist Alley and Downtown restaurants will also be open before and after the parade along the parade route to serve you.

Oceanside Museum of Art’s biennial Art Auction offers art lovers and collectors a chance to own a work of art by regional artists while supporting the museum. Nearly 80 works are on view in the Art Auction Preview Exhibition, which is open during regular museum hours through Aug. 1.
Acquire your favorite pieces before they go live at OMA’s VIP Reception at 7 p.m. on Saturday over cocktails and elevated hors d’oeuvres. Online bidding will be open to the general public on Sunday at 11 a.m.

From 5-9 p.m. next Friday, enjoy arts, jewelry, pottery, crafts, live music and more from local artists in Artist Alley. This free, family-friendly event is produced by the Oceanside Friends of the Arts in support of arts-related activities in Oceanside. Oceanside Friends of the Arts gives back to the Oceanside community through cultural events, scholarships and grants.

Explore the exhibitions and stay for the music as Oceanside’s First Friday Art Walk extends into the night at OMA next Friday with two-time San Diego Music Award winner Taryn Donath. Donath and drummer Matthew Taylor run the gamut from ’60s soul to jazz and swing, to funk and Latin to straight up boogie-woogie. These talented performers demonstrate their chemistry through improvisation and true spontaneity.
Food from Foodies by Sonia and beverages will be available for purchase at this free event beginning at 5 p.m. Music starts at 6 p.m. Book premium reserved tables or presale drink tickets below.
|Oceanside Fireworks Celebration SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon, July 3|
Oceanside is celebrating its 134th birthday next Sunday with a Fireworks Celebration at SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon, 3300 El Corazon Drive. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. There will be food available onsite beginning at 5:30 p.m. Parking will be available at the SoCal lot for $12 per car and free parking will be available at the adjacent Ocean Ranch Business Park. RVs and buses are not permitted. Gates open at 5 p.m. No alcohol or dogs are permitted at this free, family-friendly event.
This year’s event will feature live entertainment, a family fun zone with inflatables, a picnic area and food vendors.
|Fourth of July Extended Services at the Beach July 4, Oceanside Pier|
MainStreet Oceanside will be here to serve you at the beach on the Fourth of July. Our Beach Services Program contracts with carefully selected vendors to provide a variety of services at the beach during the summer and all year round, including food and beverages, water sports equipment rentals, bicycle rentals, surf instruction and more. On the Fourth of July, additional vendors will be selling food and beverages and renting water sports equipment.
The Strand will be closed to cars from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. No bike rentals are available on July 4.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, Downtown Ambassadors are stationed at the Information Booth on Pier View Way on the west end of the pedestrian underpass to welcome visitors and locals to Downtown Oceanside and to provide information to help them explore the area and enhance their Downtown experience.
