O’side Mardi Gras  Through Feb. 21, Oceanside

We’ve brought a new, lively spirit of Mardi Gras to our city leading up to Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21. Oceanside businesses have created a Mardi Gras/Carnival experience within their decorated establishments with events, specials and live music, concluding with Fat Tuesday celebrations on Feb. 21. Fill Your Soul, Fill Our Boxes Food Drive Through Feb. 21, Oceanside

Until Fat Tuesday, O’side Mardi Gras is holding a monthlong Fill Your Soul, Fill Our Boxes Food Drive benefiting North County Food Bank. Nonperishable food donations can be dropped off at participating O’side Mardi Gras businesses and supporting organizations, including MainStreet Oceanside. Mother’s Day Is Sweet Applications Through April 7, Downtown Oceanside

MainStreet Oceanside is now accepting applications to participate in our third annual spring family tasting and shopping event on Sunday, May 6, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. Created in 2019 to encourage residents and visitors to eat and shop local for Mother’s Day, this year’s event will include dessert, craft beverage and savory tastings at Downtown businesses and our returning mobile scavenger hunt, the Mother’s Day Is Sweet Challenge. Mardi Gras Live Music at Frankie’s Feb. 19, Oceanside Theatre Company

As part of Oceanside’s inaugural Mardi Gras celebration, head to Frankie’s for live music from Chunky Hustle Brass Band. The band began in 2018 as a group of musical citizens who gathered on Mission Bay late afternoons through sunsets and under full moons, creating a palette of New Orleans street funk and classic and contemporary R&B. Hughes suggested a pilot program, in partnership with the City of Oceanside’s Economic Development Division, to see if Spare’s technology rolled out on a hyperlocal scale could prove valuable in helping small businesses’ bottom lines.
