Taste of Spring reminisces on the flavors of Taste of Oceanside but with a refreshing springtime twist. Formerly known as “Mother’s Day Is Sweet,” Taste of Spring is a spring tasting and shopping event created to support local restaurants, retail businesses, breweries, and wineries by encouraging residents and visitors to eat and shop locally. This sweet and savory event featuring Downtown Oceanside restaurants and shops, as well as Oceanside breweries, wineries, and artisan sweet makers, will take place in the Downtown District on Saturday, April 20 from 2-5 p.m. Tickets on sale now! April’s Goblin Shark Goblin Gallery will be a 420 themed group show. In lieu of an opening reception, there will be a party on Saturday, April 20 at Goblin Shark Emporium. Kick off your weekend with a bite-sized happy hour version of the renowned Studio Arts workshops. Gather with friends in an artistic space designed to amplify your creative side. Join arts educator Robin Douglas and dip your toes into the work of celebrated artists over drinks and nibbles, followed by a rapid demonstration of their styles. You’ll then be guided to interpret these artists and create your own singular, spectacular work of art. All levels of experience are encouraged to participate. Native Plant Garden Tour With Audubon April 21, 515 Wisconsin Ave

Come see over 18 Native Plant Gardens in the Historic Seaside Neighborhood of Downtown Oceanside! Plant experts and neighborhood locals will lead a 1.5 mile walking tour to see these wonderful front yard gardens. Meet at 2pm, Sunday, April 21st in the St. Mary School parking lot at 515 Wisconsin Ave. The guided walk is free. Kids will be selling lemonade and cookies along the route. Meyers, a Costumers’ Guild West, Inc. member and head costumer for Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles and the Workman/Temple Family Homestead Museum in the City of Industry, California. Nominations for Oceanside’s Hometown Hero for the Oceanside Independence Parade is now open! The Honoring Our Hometown Heroes theme was created to honor local heroes of Oceanside who have contributed to making our community a wonderful place to live. There are no restrictions as to race, ethnicity, age, or type of volunteer service. Only residents of Oceanside will be considered. SUBMIT NOMINATION HERE

Oceanside’s SB 1383 Excess Edible Food Recovery Program

California Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383) sets requirements to divert organic waste from landfills and to increase edible food recovery by 20% by the year 2025. The law requires cities to establish edible food recovery outreach and inspection programs, help connect mandated edible food generators with food recovery organizations/services and ensure there is sufficient county-wide capacity for all the recovered edible food.
