Women Veterans Appreciation Day June 12th

By   /  June 3, 2021  /  No Comments

3 years ago, the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act was signed, enabling women to serve as permanent, regular members of the United States armed forces.  June 12th has become an unofficial Women Veterans Day, serving as a reminder that women fought for their right to serve in the United States Military.

73rd Anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act

It was a long journey for women to gain the right to serve. For years, many women were limited to roles as volunteers, employees, or even forced to used alternative methods such as impersonating men to fight for our country. Even today women continue to strive to prove themselves as traditionally male only specialties have opened up to qualified women. The most recent and yet long-overdue advancement occurred just last month when women attended Marine Corps Recruit Training otherwise known as bootcamp at MCRD San Diego.

This anniversary marks another necessary step paved by the trailblazing women warriors who first bore the struggle for the women warriors who fight today.

On this anniversary and every day, we honor those who fought for the right to serve, those that served, and the ones who are currently serving our country.

Make a donation in honor of a woman warrior! They are hosting a campaign to honor female military and veterans!
