Vista, CA – – (KUSI News -: Jaime Chambers). — The pride in ownership and love in Prohibition Brewing is not gone, but for Kyle Adams, this chapter in his life is wrapping up with the 15-year Vista brewing staple announcing it will be closing its doors at the end of the month.
“It’s been our family spot, and it’s been our family spot for 14 years,” said Joshua Hoyo, a longtime vista local.
“We see a little bit of a slowdown inflation comes up a little bit more. People are little bit more conservative on how they are spending and what they are spending, so we said, maybe this is the right time,” said Adams, the owner of Prohibition Brewing Co.
Over the last 2 years, over 20 breweries have closed in San Diego County, most for financial reasons, but Prohibition owns its own buildings, brand and equipment. For Kyle, he says it’s bittersweet to close, but his parents are ready to retire, and he’s ready for a change as well.
“There’s plenty of room for a new proprietor to take over and there’s enough financial gain that we feel comfortable with it,” said Adams.
Prohibition has certainly built a loyal following, and regulars are heartbroken to see it go.
“A lot of the breweries and a lot of the mom-and-pop breweries are going by the wayside, and it stinks,” said Joshua Hoyo, a longtime patron of Prohibition Brewery.
As for the wind-down, Adams said he did not want to surprise his team by giving them a month to figure out their next steps as well.
“Next two weeks, I can guarantee we are going to stop ordering food we will stop brewing, so eventually product will run out and if staff gets other jobs we will be short as well,” Adams says.
