Registration Opened Sept. 1 for around 100 cleanup sites
San Diego — I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACSD) is calling on 5,000 San Diegans to register for the 42nd annual Coastal Cleanup Day. Registration opens Sept. 1, and volunteers can choose from around 100 cleanup sites across San Diego County.
A full list of cleanup locations will be available at cleanupday.org. Coastal Cleanup Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Cleanup sites span inland canyons, rivers, parks, and beaches. Volunteers of all ages and abilities will work together to stop litter at its source. Their effort protects wildlife, improves water quality and preserves San Diego’s natural beauty.
About Coastal Cleanup Day
ILACSD has hosted Coastal Cleanup Day in San Diego since its founding in 1985. Over the past four decades, the countywide cleanup effort has mobilized over 270,000 volunteers who have removed more than 5 million pounds of litter and debris from the natural environment.
International Coastal Cleanup is organized globally by the Ocean Conservancy and statewide by the California Coastal Commission. Data collected from each site contributes to the world’s largest marine debris database.

Volunteers can register starting Sept. 1. To learn more about which site is right for them, participants can refer to this blog.
Businesses and organizations are encouraged to partner with ILACSD to support the cleanup effort and engage employees in meaningful service.
Scout troops and other interested volunteers can request a commemorative patch to recognize their participation after the event.
