SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres are hosting the clubs’ annual back-to-school shopping spree presented by Motorola on Friday, September 4, at Walmart Kearny Mesa, 4840 Shawline St. in San Diego from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students from the Monarch school will be paired with a Padres player, player’s significant other, Padres alumnus, member of the Padres front office, or a member from the Padres Volunteer Team for a shopping spree where they can each shop for items such as pants, shirts, shoes and socks of their choice. Padres pitcher Michael King and his wife, Sheila; Padres pitcher Bradgley Rodriguez and his wife, Carleysi; Padres outfielder Jase Bowen; Padres CEO Erik Greupner; and Padres alumni Mark Loretta, Brian Lawrence, Bob Scanlan and Carlos Hernandez will also shop with the kids. After checking out, the students will have lunch provided by Chick-fil-A.
Monarch School Project provides comprehensive, strength-based services to K–12 students and their families experiencing homelessness, including basic needs and housing support, mental health services, academic and enrichment opportunities, and college and career pathways—creating the stability, support, and opportunities young people need to learn, grow, and pursue a life of their choosing.
